THE KAWA was established in 2004 with a mission to empower Korean American women in our community through education and job training. With Christian faith, our members volunteer in various ways to make our community better. Over the years, we have developed uniquely designed, and tailored programs to maximize the need of volunteers and the community. Since the inception, despite the challenges faced by the 1st generation Korean American women, such as language and cultural barriers, our members have contributed over hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours in serving our community.
Today, we are pleased to have three generations of women volunteering together at THE KAWA: Mothers, Daughters, and Granddaughters, together we serve. In 2025, THE KAWA is committed to make dedicated effort to facilitate the development of the next generation volunteer programs. We will create and expand the activities and support programs such as YOUNG KAWA 2nd gen.), JR. KAWA (3rd gen.) and hold various seminars and events to encourage participation in the community.
